Volumetric detection covers the space a fence sensor cannot: open approaches, yards, gate areas, quaysides and any zone where the thing you want to detect is movement through a volume rather than contact with a structure.
PulseVi 3D is a solid-state LiDAR perimeter intrusion detection system. It scans in three dimensions at up to 30 frames per second and uses AI classification to distinguish humans and vehicles from everything else, so alerts caused by animals, blowing debris and weather are filtered out before they reach an operator.
That filtering is the entire point. Volumetric sensors have historically been rejected not because they miss intrusions but because they report too much of everything else. Classification at the sensor changes what lands on the operator’s screen.
LiDAR measures distance directly, so it produces a true three-dimensional picture of where something is rather than an image that has to be interpreted. It does not depend on ambient light, which removes the day-night performance gap that troubles camera analytics. And unlike a camera, it is not capturing identifiable images of people, which matters where privacy rules constrain what can be recorded.
Solid-state LiDAR suits gate and entrance zones, yards and aprons, quaysides and berths, and any approach where you want to know that something is moving and what kind of thing it is, some distance before it reaches a physical boundary.
