What drives data center perimeter requirements?

Speed and scrutiny at the same time. The AI build out has campuses going up faster than security teams can hire, construction sites lose copper, diesel and generators before the fence contractor leaves, and operating sites face everything from activist incursions to plain theft. Which frameworks matter?

ISO 27001:2022 added Annex A control 7.4, physical security monitoring, which expects premises to be continuously monitored for unauthorized access. SOC 2 examines physical access controls under CC6.4. ANSI/TIA-942 sets perimeter provisions for Rated 3 and Rated 4 facilities, PCI DSS Requirement 9 governs cardholder environments, NIST SP 800-53 PE controls apply to federal workloads, and European operators add NIS2 and the CER Directive.
